Rehabilitation & Movement Therapy

Assessment is key in establishing true function of the human body. Without healthy movement and function the body will break down and become impaired. Compensatory movement patterns, pain, destruction of joint structures and instability will be inevitable.

  • Orthopaedic assessments
  • Postural analysis
  • Joint ranges
  • Musculoskeletal length and tension tests
  • Neurological tests
  • Breathing patterns
  • Gait analysis
  • Functional movement screening

These are all three dimensional tests that will show the dysfunction in the body and result in which protocol needs to be created to optimise healing, functionality and restore movement.

Below is a list of problems that we deal with:

  • Back pain
  • Neck pain
  • Disc issues
  • Spondylolisthesis
  • Retrolisthesis
  • Muscular pain
  • Impingement syndrome
  • Over-pronation of the feet
  • Inversion issues of the feet

Rehabilitation and Movement Therapy for Bouldering / Rock climbing

Whether you are a Boulderer or a rock climber the physical demands are similar. There are common injuries with the climber and at The Swiss Clinic we ensure that all joints and muscular ranges function well and compliment one another.

Too many generic ‘functional’ exercise programs today are still created for the localised joint or muscle. This will impede the climbers’ progress because such a demanding sport requires full integration of the body from the foot to the hand. Any restrictions within the musculoskeletal system will disrupt the sequencing patterns of the muscular chain and ultimately pain, fatigue or injuries happen.

Claud Serjeant who heads the Rehabilitation and Movement Therapy at The Swiss Clinic takes you through a multitude of orthopaedic tests and movement specificity which correlates to climbing. Upon completion of the initial consultation specific protocols will be created to ensure rehabilitation or goal specifics are met.

  • Orthopaedic joint ranges tests
  • Musculoskeletal ROM tests
